We take the responsibly of caring for your pet very seriously. We have put into place safety steps to ensure their well being.
Tours at bark avenue
We offer tours of our facility by appointment however we do not offer tours while pets belonging to clients are in our facility or certain areas of the facility for safety reasons. We don’t allow owners to be in the grooming room while their pet is being groomed for safety of the pet. Most pets want to get back to the owner and are happy to see them so we ask that the owner stay out of sight to ensure the pet stays calm and relaxed until we are done with the sharp tools we must use to trim them with when necessary. If we must have owner present for grooming due to underlying medical concerns, this will be discussed at time of appointment scheduling.
Cpr/first aid
Our staff is required to participate in educational classes per bark avenue pet salon & resort policy. They must complete a first aid/cpr every 2 years to ensure if an issue comes up they are equipped to handle it. Should your pet require immediate veterinary care, we have a vet 3 blocks away for immediate veterinary care. Pet owners are responsible for any veterinary fees associated with veterinary care.
Grooming & cleaning supplies
All products that are used on the pets or a around them are all specifically labeled for use on pets. Our face wash is both hypo-allergic and tearless to ensure pets’ eyes are not irritated. We only use non-pesticide products on pets that have fleas. When working on a pet infested with fleas we spray around the table as we work on them and then bug-bomb the salon after we close.
The cleaner we use (best shot 256 disinfectant) kills staph, salmonella, e. Coli, methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus, bordetellabronchiseptica, canine distemper, feline picornavirus, infectious bovine rhinotracheitis, rabies, pseudorabies, streptococcus, canine parvovirus, viruses, bacteria, fungi, mold and mildew as it cleans, disinfects and deodorizes. Kennels and grates are clean after each pet. Tubs, tables, and floors are scrubbed daily. We also have a uv light in our hvac system to kill 99.9% of airborne virus like bordetalla.
Equipment
We use the best equipment on the market for the safety of our pets. Every single table in our salon has a groomers helper which keeps dogs from spinning off the table. We use belly bands to help the older dogs stand and keeps them on the table. We have ramps to all our big tubs so dogs can walk up it and not have to jump. Each table we have is a hydraulic so big dogs have a much easier time getting on them. Pets are never allowed to be left unattended in a tub or on a table. We do not use heated cage dryers or heat dryer boxes. Our kennel dryers and fans circulate room temperature air, pets are not left unattended with kennel fans to ensure pet does not become stressed.
Kennel suites
The safety of your pet is our top priority. Pets that do not do well with other pets or have other restrictions preventing them from free roam of the dog daycare areas are kenneled in our grooming suites to ensure their safety and other pets safety. All kennel suites are disinfected between every pet.
Vaccinations
We require all pets be up to date on
Dog vaccinations required: rabies, dhpp
Cat vaccinations required: rabies, fvrcp
Rabies and distemper are both zoonotic disease meaning humans can get them from animals. For the safety of our staff and pet guests, we must require that your pet be up to date on these vaccinations.
Pet profile
We keep very detailed notes on each pet that comes to the salon. We note the lumps and bumps in order to point out new things that are growing on your pet. We will also know if your pet has back or hip issue in order for us to keep them comfortable! We note any behavior traits that may be experienced along with any other notes that will be useful in providing the most comfortable experience at our facility!
